Amazing Grace
This story is a substantially revised version of a story originally published in Somebody's Speaking My Language, (Santa
Cruz, Calif.: Women's Voices Press, 1979). The original version was part of my thesis for my master's degree in English at
California State University, Long Beach. The version published here received the Glimmer Train Top 25 New Writers Award
in 1998.

This is a substantially revised version of a story that appeared in a now-defunct small magazine, Fiction West, in
1977. The original story appeared in my master's thesis in 1976.
Cross Country
This story is taken out of a much longer story, "Point of Intersection," that appeared in my master's thesis in
1976. It was shortened in order to make it more publishable in a print magazine. If you'd like to know more about these characters,
